Application and Characteristics of Y Type Globe Valve

The Y-type globe valve is widely used and falls into the category of shut - off valves. It is composed of a valve seat, a valve disc, a valve stem, a valve cover, screws, a handwheel, packing, and a gland. This valve controls opening and closing through the cooperation between the valve disc installed under the valve stem and the flange part of the valve body. The principle is that rotating the handwheel transmits torque to the valve stem, changing the distance between the valve disc and the valve seat, so that the valve sealing surface and the valve seat sealing surface fit tightly or separate, thus preventing medium flow.

Globe valves can be divided into straight  through type, straight  flow type, and right  angle type based on the fluid direction. The inlet and outlet passages of the straight  through globe valve form a straight line, with a 90° bend when installed. The fluid resistance is relatively large when passing through. The inlet and outlet passages of the straight - flow globe valve form a straight line, so the fluid resistance is relatively small during flow. The inlet and outlet passages of the right  angle globe valve form a right angle, and it is installed in pipelines with mutually perpendicular directions, commonly used in high  pressure pipelines.

The valve body has a simple structure, is convenient for manufacturing and maintenance, and is generally used for throttling. It only allows the medium to flow in one direction, and attention should be paid to directionality during installation. In actual production, it can also be used for throttling, and the opening degree of the valve is adjusted by the size of its opening height. It is also practically applied in medium  flow scenarios. Its opening height is not large, and the up  and  down stroke is small. The opening and closing of small  diameter Y-type globe valves are basically not affected by the medium pressure in the pipeline, so they are used relatively frequently in equipment production. However, the disadvantage of this type of valve is that its structure is large, especially when the straight through port is large. In this case, the medium resistance is large, closing is relatively difficult, and the sealing surface is also easily subject to erosion and corrosion. During long  term operation, the seal is prone to failure, resulting in internal leakage of the valve. Therefore, when the equipment undergoes irregular overhaul, the globe valve must be inspected, especially in environments with frequent opening and closing, and regular maintenance must also be carried out on it.
